I love Halloween

I think it is such a fun holiday and look forward to dressing up my family every year. Our mall had a costume party so me and the kids went. Parker was a soccer player and McKenzie was the cutest biker chick I have ever seen. Parker and McKenzie had fun coloring a pumpkin and eating the cookies they decorated. Here they are with their cute friend River showing off their costumes and pumpkin. While at the party a nice lady came up to me and told me I needed a picture of me and the kids because moms are never in any pictures. So, here I am in my costume(I dressed up as a mom) with my cute kids who are to busy doing something else (Parker was pouting, McKenzie was trying to figure out how she could fit that whole pumpkin in her mouth) so they couldn't look at the camera.

Making a mess

Kenzie's latest trick is to see how many items she can remove from my cupboards before I stop her. She empties my cupboards about 10 times a day, and is getting pretty good at it.

Kids say the darndest things

Last night Parker walked up to me with a strainer on his head and told me it was a hat. He then ran into his room for a second and came back and told me "Match mommy, Match"as I looked over at him he was still holding the strainer on his head but now was holding this book up right next to his face. I think he made a pretty good match.
I tell Parker about a million times a day that I love him. This is his response:

Every time I tell him I love him he instantly says I love daddy.

I cried

This happened like 3 weeks ago, Parker said something last night that made me decide to post it.

Me, the kids and some friends went to the zoo a couple weeks ago. The weather was great, the company was great, it was a perfect day for the zoo. After walking around for a while we decided it was lunch time. I had packed a lunch so I let Parker play on the playground while we waited for our friends to go buy their food.

No matter where Parker is playing if he doesn't come say "hi" or come say something to me, after 3 minutes have passed I know he is up to something. 3 minutes went buy and Parker hadn't called my name or came over and told me how much fun he was having, so I decided to look a little closer at the playground and see exactly where he was.

The playground at the zoo is horrible. Kids can climb up the front or the back of the playground equipment which provides lots of things for kids to do, but is bad for parents because kids can climb up one way and climb down the back and disappear.

There is this one spot on the slide where kids can climb into and play and are not easily seen. As I scoured the playground Parker was no where to be seen so I just kept hoping he was playing in that one spot of the slide. After at least 5 minutes of waiting and asking if people had seen him I decided to make sure he hadn't gone with my friends to get food. When I saw he wasn't with our friends the panic started.

I went back to the playground and walked around again hoping to see Parker. I then asked a couple if their daughter could climb up to the top and tell me if there was a boy with a brown shirt on up there. After I asked them for help I just knew it was a waste of time, he wasn't up there and I needed to do something because it has been at least 10 minutes, probably more, and my first born child is no where to be seen.

At that moment my friends come back, as I walked over to them I tried to keep my cool. I started to tell them I can't find Parker then the tears just started coming and I was scared I will never see Parker again. My friend Melanie then looks over and sees Parker walking down the sidewalk with one of the zoo workers.

As I looked over and saw Parker, I don't think I have ever been so happy in my life. I ran up to the guy and he could tell I was Parker's mom because no kidnapper could have cried that many tears in an attempt to steal a child. As I held Parker I could tell he was not scared at all but was glad to see me again. I have never been so scared in my life, and can't even describe how happy I am that Parker was found. I am not sure why Parker wanted more adventure than what the playground had to offer that day.

Last night Anthony was reading Parker his zoo book. I wasn't there to hear the story, but this is what I got from Anthony. As Anthony was talking about the zoo Parker told him how the last time he went to the zoo Parker went bye-bye and mommy went bye-bye. Anthony kept listening and Parker told him how he wasn't scared, but mommy was. From what Anthony told me it sounded like Parker knew exactly what he was doing when he left the playground that day. I can't believe Parker remembered that experience, I also can't believe that little stinker purposely tried to make me have a nervous breakdown.

Why is she smiling?

Kenzie is smiling because this is the first time since she was 1 week old that she got to take a bath without Parker. No one splashing on her, stealing her toys or dumping water on her head. Where was Parker? He went with dad to the church because I heard the young women were in need of children to watch so they could work on some child care skills. Turns out they are in need of children next week, oops. I guess I need to work on my listening skills. Sorry Anthony, but Parker enjoyed his night with dad.

Advantages to living in New York

One of the benefits of living in New York is we get to celebrate Jewish holidays. Today is Rosh Hashanah so Anthony was off school and we did a little celebrating. We started out the day with a nice morning jog. Followed by a trip to the dental school with dad.
Kenzie got to sit with dad and see where all the magic happens.
Parker and I got to sit in the chair that Anthony sees more than his family during the school year.
A trip to the dental school is never complete until Parker and dad play one-on-one at Foosball.
We all got a nap then watched a little T.V.
To end the night me and the kids went on a rain walk so Parker could finally try out his new rain boots.

It was a very good day, and we are all looking forward to celebrating Yom Kippur next week.
