What is that horrible smell?

This is a question you would probably be asking yourself if you came to my house today. The smell is horrible it is 19 eggs mixed with urine, a horrible mixture that I would recommend never combining. Here is how it happened:

Yesterday I hosted playgroup at my house. During playgroup 3 children disappeared, my innocent little Parker and his friends Weston and Lily. I wasn't worried because there isn't anything in my kitchen they could get to. Unfortunately someone knows how to open the fridge. I am not sure who opened the fridge, all I know is the fridge was opened and my kitchen was egged by 3 not so innocent children.

I mopped 3 times yesterday, but when I woke up today my kitchen smelt like eggs. I just put it in the back of my mind and moved on with the day, I will clean it later. I had decided today was the big day, the day when Parker goes from being a baby to being big boy and gets rid of the diaper. Here is how it worked.

At 10:00 am we start the process. We have a celebration both Parker and his peeing doll Scott get rid of their diapers and put on underwear. We then give Scott a drink, take him to the bathroom and he pees in the toilet, well done Scott.

Try #1 We go back to the kitchen give Parker a drink, on his second sip he pees his underwear. That is fine, I clean him up, get a new pair of underwear and go back to drinking.

Try #2 I should have thought this process through a little bit better (and went to the bathroom before we started), but I needed to go to the bathroom. I went and came back to find that Parker had peed and pooped in his underwear. Definitely not his fault, so I clean him up and we start again.

Try #3 I wanted Parker to see Scott potty in the toilet again so he understands the pee is supposed to go in the toilet, not down his leg. Parker starts giving Scott his drink, in the middle of the process he looks up and me and pees his underwear again.

Try #4 I am trying to stay positive, we do some practice runs. I take Parker to different parts of the house and tell him "ooh no, you have to go potty what do you do?" We run to the bathroom take off his underwear sit on the toilet and practice what he should do when he feels his urges. We practiced about 5 times, then went back to the kitchen for more to drink. While he is drinking his drink he pees again.

Try #5 Parker is all cleaned and drinking again. I start changing McKenzie's diaper while I am doing this Parker hit her as hard as he could 3 times on her face before I could stop him. Furious,(Parker is always so nice and has never done this before) I put him in time out. While I try to calm down McKenzie I hear "mom poo-poo, mom pee-pee." Sure enough he had peed all over in his bed.

We stopped the potty training process at 11:30 after he peed his bed. I am not ready. So now I am mopping again trying to make sure the urine smell is gone. Hopefully within the next few days I can get rid of the horrible egg urine smell. As I think about my day I think how smart Annamarie(my sister-in-law) is. Before trying to toilet train Parker I asked her if she had any toilet training advice and she told me "don't do it." You are a wise woman Annamarie.

Reading

Parker used to hate reading books, but he finally has started to enjoy reading. Apparently today I was reading the book wrong because in the middle of the story Parker took his book over to McKenzie, sat down and started reading to her. As if he was showing me how to do it because I was doing it wrong.

Well, I showed him. I took my book and gave it to Anthony to read to me, showing Parker how to sit and listen appreciatively.

What can you do?

One of our daily rituals is to do Kenzie's hair. Today while doing it I brought 3 bows because I didn't know which one would look best. Parker noticed the extra bows and insisted on wearing one. Don't worry I eventually got him to take it off willingly, but it was hard. I don't want to tell him that only girls wear bows, I am scared he will start saying he wants to be a girl(this happened to one of my friends sons). It was too cute I had to take a picture.

The Parker Challenge

I hate vegetables. When I was raised my parents didn't like vegetables, so I hardly had to eat any. I only had to eat a small spoonful of peas or corn at dinner and that was a sufficient vegetable intake for the day. As far as I was concerned if it wasn't peas in a pod or corn on the cob there was no point in eating it.

I now am trying to change my ways and actually enjoy vegetables. Not a very easy change to make, but I am determined. Here is a story of how hard I am trying:

Today while preparing lunch I decided instead of chips to go with our lunch we needed to eat some carrots. I usually eat about 4 carrots and call it good, but today I thought in my head I am going to eat as many carrots as Parker(isn't that sad my 2 year old is my example). As if Parker could read my thoughts he finished his carrots and asked for more, looking at me as if to challenge me.

I took that challenge. I gave him more and then took an equivalent amount for myself. Parker continued to do this, asking for more and more like he actually thinks carrots taste good. Well, he didn't stop there. He ate more and more from 6 carrots to 10 carrots then telling me "more mom more." He had eaten 14 now, 16, now he was up to 18 carrots. I just kept wondering how many stinking carrots am I going to have to eat. Parker finishes chewing and again asks for more, then as if my prayers had been answered I saw there were only 4 carrots left in the bag. I gave him 2 and I took the last 2.

What in the world? I think I have eaten more carrots today than I have my whole life combined. The worst part is, after all those carrots I didn't have room in my belly to eat any of my left over chocolate from Valentines day. I guess this could be a good thing.

My smiling beauty

One of the best things that has ever happened in my life is having a baby girl, after having a boy first. It is completely different, and I love every second of it (except for the night feedings). McKenzie is my little doll I get her all dressed up everyday, even if we are just staying home. When Anthony asks "Does she still have to wear this bow?" the answer is yes because that is what girls do, and she looks so stinking cute with it in. She has been smiling since she was 5 weeks and I finally caught it on camera.
There is no better sound than hearing an infant laugh.
Anthony's friend Jen from school gave Kenzie these boots and they are so adorable. I spend most the day putting them back on because she kicks them off. It is worth the trouble, they are so cute.

Father & Son

This Friday Anthony and his friend Andrew took their son's to a car show in Buffalo. It was a great father son activity. I heard Parker and his friend Weston wouldn't let their dads in the car. Here is a picture of Weston taking Parker for a ride.
